Reba's Exercise

Reba must be active in order to burn off the fat she has put on.  You really need to see her in person to truly understand what difficulty she has to be mobile.  Her belly is almost drags on the ground and she is easily three times a wide as your average Corgi.  She waddles. I'm digressing....  We believe her being active (without straining her) will be a tremendous help to help trim pounds.  As she lightens,  we will make her more active by going on walks, controlled play and obedience training.   Currently we are worried about the strain her weight is putting on her. Especially her heart/lungs (she pants constantly, often quite heavily), and on her joints.  She will have every chance to play with our Corgis as well.  This play will be controlled so she does not over exert herself.  Every pound lost will be a great gain for little Reba.

8/27/98 - With over 10 lbs. off, Reba isn't panting nearly as much.  We're increasing her exercise level by encouraging her to play with toys inside.  It's still much too hot for outside exercise.  Fortunately Reba LOVES her toys.  Her favorite was a 2 liter soda bottle, until it became ragged and unsafe as a toy.  Now her favorite is a new stuffed toy with a squeaker in it.  That's a treat in our house, as Casey is a master squeak killer.  Actually, her absolute favorite is a round ball that we put bits of kibble in.  She'll race around the house slamming that into the walls whenever it has any in it.  However, she only gets one or two kibbles from that every few days.  Surprisingly, she's rather spunky when she wants to be.   She can run almost as fast as Pepper, she just can't sustain it for very long.   Casey and she have been caught racing around the house playing keepaway with the new stuffed toy on several occasions.
